The scotchlok UY2 connector is used for fast (without stripping the insulation) splicing of cable conductors with core diameters ranging from 0.4 to 0.9 mm with all types of insulation up to 2 mm thick. The contact plate inside the red button, when the button is pressed, cuts through the conductors and thus splices them together. After crimping the contacts are immediately protected by hydrophobic gel, which is located inside the plastic housing, it in turn protects the spliced contacts from corrosion for the full life of the wiring system.
